Last Friday 5 October Uganda launched its national NTD control and elimination plan. The launch took place in Entebbe and was attended by Uganda's Minister of Health, WHO-AFRO, regional programme managers and international implementing partners.
Last Friday 5 October Uganda launched its national five-year NTD control and elimination master plan. The launch took place in Entebbe during the annual regional NTD prgramme managers meeting, and was attended by Uganda's Minister of Health, the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa, and international implementing partners.
The master plan provides a road map for Uganda to be free of neglected tropical diseases and related morbidity and disabilities by 2020, recommiting the government and partners to achieving this goal. Uganda has a high NTD burden, with all 112 districts endemic for at least one of the USAID-targeted neglected tropical diseases.
