Helminth distributions in many Middle Eastern countries are limited by hot, arid environments that prevent sustained transmission of infection. Suitable areas do still occur in selected areas, and high burdens of STH and schistosomiasis can still found in a number of vulnerable populations, e.g. urban slums, and regions, e.g. the Arabian Peninsula.
