This is an exciting opportunity to work on a spatial analysis of changing agro-ecosystems and health outcomes, as part of the new “Improving Human Health” (IHH) flagship of the CGIAR’s Agriculture for Nutrition and Health programme. This analysis brings together geo-spatial agricultural and health datasets to explore relationships between changes in agro-ecosystems and vector-borne disease, with a particular focus on Africa.
Primary responsibilities of the post-holder include to collate relevant datasets into a standardised geodatabase, and develop an analytical framework to explore spatio-temporal relationships between agricultural and health outcomes, with a primary focus on malaria and its association with irrigated crops. The post-holder will also play a key role in analysing results and disseminating findings to stakeholders, including writing for publication.
The successful candidate will have an MSc level qualification in epidemiology or a related discipline, plus experience using GIS platforms to manage, visualise and analyse spatial data; familiarity with handling large datasets and conducting epidemiological analyses of infectious diseases using Stata or R. Experience implementing geostatistical analysis approaches would be an advantage, as would a keen interest in One Health, biology and ecology of disease vectors, agriculture mapping and/or epidemiology of vector-borne diseases. Further particulars are included in the attached job description.
