The Global Atlas of Helminth Infections re-launches website with new look, features and maps.
In January 2013 we revamped our website with some new features, like a news section and a blog, and we're happy to report that in 2013 visits to our website increased by 65% over 2012. Recognising the importance - and potential - of maintaning a dynamic online presence, we decided to go for an even bigger change. Today, we are very pleased to announce our new website. ThisWormyWorld.org is still a leading resource on the geographical distribution of NTDs, but our new design and structure makes searching for maps and data much easier.
New features and content include:
• country maps showing treatment coverage for lymphatic filariasis (LF), water supply and sanitation (WSS) coverage for Africa, and survey data for LF (pre-control and contemporary)
• Regional maps showing survey data for STH, schistosomiasis and LF
• Maps searchable by country, type and worm
• Research section explaining our work in addition to mapping NTDs
Our long standing resources are still available:
• Maps which can be freely used and distributed
• the data underpinning them
• short course information and materials on NTD mapping
• training tools
• background information on worms and their control
We hope that providing more information about our body of work will encourage further collaboration with others working in NTD research and control. Our website is now also optimised to be fully functional on mobile phones, since we realise this is increasingly the preferred platform for many of our partners working in remote locations.
