Historically much of Central America and the Caribbean had high STH prevalence. Socio-economic improvements and the roll-out of large deworming campaigns have reduced infection prevalence across much of the region. The maps shown here show all STH survey data available 1990 onwards.
Active transmission of schistosomiasis and lymphatic filariasis are restricted to small isolated areas, although there still is a need to complete elimination efforts for schistosomiasis in the Caribbean.
