Developing a global atlas

This Atlas provides reliable and up-to-date maps of worm distribution that are otherwise rarely accessible to public health managers or policy-makers. The maps are grounded in structured searches of the formal and grey literature for suitable survey data. These data are then collated into a single database, according to set inclusion criteria. Identified surveys are geo-positioned using electronic sources and maps are then developed using geographical information systems (GIS). To date, more than 10,000 surveys have been identified, catalogued and mapped.

Where survey data are unavailable, the project is developing risk models to predict prevalence at unsampled locations.
